Testimonials

Armstrong Studios has been providing outstanding product photography for Maryland brands since 1988. Read what some of our clients have shared about their experience working with us.

“We have the pleasure of working with Christine across multiple brands, and she has been an incredible partner in bringing our vision to life. She is highly professional and takes the time to truly understand the nuances and complexities of each of our brands and their unique requirements. Her attention to detail is exceptional, and her creativity and experience behind the camera are second to none.
Even when we don’t have the creative direction fully defined, I have complete confidence in Christine. She brings clarity, perspective, and creativity to every project, helping shape ideas into something even better than we imagined. Her work has played a meaningful role in elevating our brands through standout visual content across our websites, advertising, and social channels. We’re frequently asked who handles our photography because it genuinely sets us apart in our industry.
Beyond her talent, Christine is thoughtful, kind, and simply wonderful to work with. She goes above and beyond to ensure we’re happy with the results every time. I truly can’t say enough good things about her, and I don’t think our businesses would be the same without her.”

“We have had the pleasure of working with Chris Armstrong for more than a decade, and while her photographs speak beautifully for themselves, it is the thoughtfulness and integrity of her process that have made our relationship with her so valuable.

When I first approached Chris, I was coming from a difficult experience with another photographer. We had invested a significant amount as a small business, yet encountered problems with the photographs and with how they were being accepted by different sales platforms. More discouragingly, our concerns were not taken seriously. I therefore came to Chris feeling cautious and uncertain.

Chris took the time to listen carefully and understand not only what we needed, but also what I was trying to envision. Drawing on her familiarity with the fair trade sector through her work with Ten Thousand Villages, she understood both our products and the realities of operating a small, mission-driven business.

What became a real game changer was her suggestion that we develop a consistent photography template for each product category. Together, we agreed on the types of images each category would require, the overall visual approach, and the costs involved. This created clarity, consistency, and trust from the beginning. Chris followed through on everything we discussed and has continued to bring that same level of precision and reliability to our work over the years.

Chris is exacting about the quality of her work, but she is also approachable, patient, and deeply understanding. Some of our products are especially difficult to photograph, and she has always worked hard to represent them as accurately and authentically as possible. On more than one occasion, even years after completing a shoot, she has revisited an older product while photographing newer pieces and made an effort to improve or rework an image because she believed it could better reflect the product.

I have tremendous respect for Chris’s technical skill and artistic eye, but equally for the humanity she brings to her work. She understands the concerns, limitations, and aspirations of a small business and is able to work within that context without ever compromising her standards.

Our website is, in many ways, a testament to Chris’s work. With the exception of a small number of images supplied by customers or partners, the photography across our site is overwhelmingly hers.

I wholeheartedly recommend Chris to anyone looking for a photographer who combines exceptional talent with professionalism, thoughtfulness, honesty, and genuine care for her clients.”

“Chris came recommended from one of our trusted clients who knows her personally. It was at a time that our company recognized the importance of high-quality imagery for the intention of marketing. From the initial conversation, it was evident that Chris shared our company’s interest in fair-trade and sustainability. Not only was she able to capture and present that messaging in our photography, but she was able to educate our team throughout the multiple projects which was invaluable. She became a key partner in our marketing strategies and provided direction based on the photography she produced.  Her knowledge of the industry and passion to continue to push herself sets her apart.”

“I was extremely happy with my photoshoot with Chrsitine. As a novice to on-model shoots, I appreciated how she walked me through every aspect and even connected me with a model. Her years of experience ensured a smooth and successful day, and her attention to detail resulted in beautiful shots.”

“I met Chris what seems to be a hundred years ago when I was working for Johns Hopkins School of Public Health as the Publications Director. She had been shooting the magazine covers for a few years before I came on board and was very well-respected by my colleagues. I came to quickly appreciate Chris’s knack for beautifully and artfully organizing and styling what would have otherwise been a disjointed array of objects with no conceptual synergy. As I migrated from Hopkins to Callahan & Co. and then on to co-found Incite Creative, Inc., Chris remained my “go to” gal for any type of catalog or product photography. She was instrumental in the dance wear and sporting good catalogs we designed, including four seasons of the Sports Her Way catalogs. This was complex work because of the vast number of products (over 200 per catalog) as well the flexibility and patience that was required, given the eleventh hour product changes. The shots ranged from large gym bags and lacrosse sticks, to small lanyards and hair ribbons. Chris treated each one with care and devised a way to give each one its own distinct personality and make even the most incidental object appear valuable. The Armstrong Studio process is very similar to the way we work — ask questions first, make sure you fully understand the goal and scope of the project, the budget, potential obstacles, schedule, etc. and THEN shoot. Chris is very methodical and helps me work through the details that I might overlook. For this reason I know that if I cannot be on hand to art direct, then my projects are in extremely capable hands. Having been a professional photographer for many years, Chris has seen it all. It’s a huge asset to have a talented creative partner that makes us look good time and again, can offer socially responsible insight, and is someone I can call “friend.” Whether it’s for client work or for our own portfolio, when it comes to catalog and product lay down shots, there’s no question who’s the best in town and to whom we turn.”

“The first time I met Chris and started working with her, I knew I had found the photographer that I would be working with for a long time. Her work product is excellent. She is a seasoned professional with the experience to take amazing shots, but I believe what really sets her apart is that she listens to understand the vision of her clients and then focuses on bringing the vision to life.”

“For more than fifteen years, Chris’ commitment to the mission of fair trade and her passion for Ten Thousand Villages has shined through every aspect of her work for us. Chris’ creative contributions and ability to breathe life into still photography allowed Ten Thousand Villages to take our print and direct mail marketing and our eCommerce site to incredible levels. Her ability to perfectly blend client direction along with her own creative concepting—on time, every time—while accommodating the client’s needs, all with a captivating energy makes Chris an interregnal part of the Ten Thousand Villages marketing team and our company’s brand look.”

“Chris Armstrong brings a deep sense of personal commitment and professional skill to her photography. She not only consistently produced quality photography for a densely-packed product catalog but she became an integral member of the creative team from start to finish. Chris also quickly embraced the fair trade mission. She worked very hard not only to produce good results on schedule and on budget, but she clearly wanted to help advance the overall mission of SERRV.
